We all know the traditional story trope of a little kid falling into a well. Typically, another child (or even a dog) sees the child and runs for help. Sometimes, they even save the kid themselves.
Fortunately, it’s not very often that children actually fall into wells — but when it does happen, it can be very scary.
Muhammad Adeeb, a 4-year-old who lives in Punjab, Pakistan, was chasing a ball when he accidentally fell into an uncovered well outside his house. The little boy got stuck at the bottom, 20 feet beneath ground level.
Finally, after being trapped at the bottom of the narrow well for four hours, Muhammad was rescued. A team of people worked together to save the young boy.
In the video, you’ll see just how small the well truly is — most adults wouldn’t be able to fit into the hole.
A rescue team lowered a rope down to Muhammad and slowly began to pull him out of the well. In the video, onlookers yell and shout as the rescue team gets Muhammad closer and closer to the surface.
When they finally grab the 4-year-old’s arm and hoist him into the air, the crowd erupts in cheers. Although Muhammad seems overwhelmed and frightened, it’s clear he’s happy to be back above ground.
See the incredible rescue in the video below.
